Video Recipe – Ikura Don, with kimchi and fried egg and Golden Brook Trout Pearls


  • 1 cup steamed Japanese white rice
  • Kimchi
  • 1 egg
  • Spring onions – finely sliced
  • 30g Golden Brook Trout pearls
  • Furikake Japanese seasoning


Follow cooking instructions on the packed for 1 cup of steamed rice. Once cooked, set aside in small bowl for reheating when needed.

Reheat until warm

Gently fry the egg – to allow for a runny yolk. This will add richness and moisture to the finished dish.

Turn out the steamed rice onto the serving bowl. Top with a generous amount of kimchi, followed by the fried egg. Top with finely sliced spring onions, Golden Brook trout pearsl and finally some furikake rice seasoning. Dress this with some Ponzu dressing, or good quality soy sauce.
